Frequently Asked Questions
I've had pelvic floor dysfunction / pain / problems following childbirth for years. Is it too late?
Women’s Health Physiotherapy is a specialist area of physiotherapy treating all problems relating to the female form, pelvis and pelvic floor. The pelvic floor and your health does not have an expiration date for healing.

Do I need to have a internal exam?
An internal assessment helps both you and your physiotherapist to understand how your pelvic floor muscles are working — how effectively you can contract, whether your technique is optimal, whether you can fully relax, or if there is underlying tension. This information allows us to create a personalised rehabilitation plan that is specific to your body and realistic for you to follow at home.
You are always in control during an examination, and you are welcome to bring a chaperone. Everything is explained clearly beforehand, your consent is ongoing, and you can ask to pause or stop at any time, for any reason. Nothing matters more than you feel safe.
If you feel unsure or would prefer time to think about it, that is completely okay. You are welcome to decide in your own time.
How many appointments do I need?
This is a really difficult question to answer! Your treatment approach is bespoke. Consistency is key, and carrying on your treatment at home, between your physiotherapy appointments can be incredibly beneficial. However, treatment remains fluid and your therapist will adapt to your goals.
If you have any specific concerns about time frame or cost, please discuss this with your therapist.
Do you accept card payments?
Payment, unless specified, is made at time of booking. Payments are made via the payment option on my webpage and instagram app, via host Cliniko. If you require an alternative payment method please contact me.
Payments are non-refundable or transferable if cancelled within 48-hours of your appointment. This helps ensure patients on the wait list can make an appointment and allows me to continue to offer the highest levels of care.
Class bookings require no-less than 24 hours notice to cancel. I will however offer a refund in the event that I can fill your place from the waitlist.
In the event of a class or session being cancelled by myself, I aim to provide an additional class or session free of charge at a later date or an opportunity to transfer to another class. Where this is not possible a refund may be offered.
Can I bring someone to the appointment?
Should you wish to bring a chaperone to your appointment, I welcome them warmly in clinic. However, this is a gentle reminder I do not allow immediate family members or partners to chaperone during your visits.
This decision is not taken lightly and is to protect those who are vulnerable.
I do not provide chaperones in clinic, but I am happy to provide details of private, professional chaperones prior to your appointment at your own cost (please contact the chaperone themselves to discuss payment).
Do you accept insurance?
Appointments are paid for at the time of booking, and after your session you’ll receive a detailed receipt. You can then submit this to your insurer to request reimbursement.
Some insurers — such as Aviva, AXA PPP and BUPA Healthcare — don’t usually accept this self-pay and reclaim option. However, other providers do. If you’re unsure about your cover, I’d always recommend checking directly with your insurer before booking so you know exactly what to expect.
If your insurer has issued you with an authorisation code, this typically means they require treatment to take place within one of their approved hospital settings, such as Spire Healthcare, Nuffield Health, Sancta Maria Hospital or St Joseph's Hospital.
